For years Xiaomi has used the Redmi family to differentiate cheaper mobile phones, and that brand is already known so much that in Xiaomi have decided to turn it into an independent division.
Xiaomi will therefore have its own high-end “Mi” phones, which will be added to the recently introduced Pocophones and the Redmi that will now have that own brand. To get off to a good start, launch in a big way on January 10: the first member of that new batch will be a mobile phone with a 48-megapixel rear camera.
Smartphones of three brands: Mi, Redmi and Pocophone
The own president of Xiaomi, Lin Bin, aimed at the launching of a smartphone with camera of 48 Mpixels for this month of January, and the indications were pointing to a new mobile of the series Redmi. That launch of the new smartphone will be added to a singular decision: the separation of the Redmi brand, which will take on a life of its own. Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, confirmed that move by replying to a user on Weibo. There Jun argued that this movement allowed the different brands to focus on their respective products. Thus, in Redmi will focus as they did so far in entry-level and mid-range smartphones, while the Mi brand will focus on high-end devices .
In addition to that, Redmi devices are marketed mostly in e-commerce sites, and those of the Mi brand do not do so to the same extent. The strategy is the same as that followed by Huawei with its Honor brand, and in fact Oppo did the same last year with the Realme brand. Next January 10
we will know more details about a strategic movement that will have as clear protagonist that new smartphone that will feature the 48-megapixel camera that we saw recently in the Honor V20.
